C++ Compass

I downloaded this compass and I find it the better of the three in the App store. I find that using this app, I observed that zeroing Magnetic North, True North would read 12 degrees. That would place True North to the East of Magnetic North.
I am in California and all maps show that True North is to the West of Magnetic North by 12 degrees not East
